Spam, how things change

19th December 2011

I was walking though a local supermarket with my 10 year old daughter, who is reasonably computer and internet savvy.

We were walking down an isle and she picked up a can of SPAM. I asked her why she had picked one up as she has never eaten it. She went on to explain why a supermarket would sell tins of Spam to their customers? She couldn't understand why customers would buy a tin containing Spam email printouts!!!

It took me a while to convince her that it didn't contain Spam e-mails and that it was a meat product and that it hadn't been named after the Spam that you receive in e-mail, in fact quite the opposite Spam e-mails had been named after the meat product when it was in a Monty Python sketch, but that is a different story.
